How to Play Nucleon

The Goal: Fire lasers upward. Break atoms into smaller particles. Kr splits into Ar. Ar splits into Ne. Ne into He. He into H. Avoid U-235 at all costs—it's lethal. Clear levels before atoms overwhelm the screen. Survive 20 stages. Master fission.

Core Mechanic: Atom Splitting

Position your scientist under floating atoms. Press W (P1) or ↑/Space (P2). Laser fires upward. Large atoms like Krypton (Kr) break into two smaller ones—Argon (Ar). From level 4 onward, unstable atoms shatter into four particles at once. Chain reactions score big. Miss a shot? Atoms pile up fast.

Progression: 20 Levels of Escalating Chaos

Start simple. By level 10, timers accelerate atom spawns. Wind gusts shift trajectories mid-air. Platforms block beams—forcing you to reposition. Pull the lever to lock barriers into place. Each stage adds new modifiers. No two levels feel the same.

Power-Ups: 9 Isotope Canisters

Every 3–8 seconds, boosters drop as glowing canisters. Grab them for instant advantages:

• Time Stretch: Slow atom movement. Perfect for crowded screens.
• Triple Beam: Fire three lasers simultaneously. Clear clusters fast.
• Jetpack: Fly horizontally. Dodge platforms and reposition.
• Evaporation: Destroy all on-screen atoms instantly.

Two-Player Co-Op: Split the Work

Nucleon supports full local co-op. P1 (green) controls with A/D/W. P2 (blue) uses ←/→/↑. Cover different screen zones. One player baits atoms. The other shoots. Coordinate power-up grabs. Shared score. Shared chaos.
